EXTREMELY HIGH WEAR RESISTANCE AND LONG OPERATING LIFE
Our partner is a service provider who specializes in the recycling of salts and aluminum residues. Metallic chambered centrifugal pumps in plastic are used to pump suspensions (salts) with solid particle loads.
A maximum operating service life of 15 months used to be the benchmark. The enormously abrasive wear to the pump housing and impeller resulted in production downtimes, which became increasingly costly.
Therefore, the key factor in the production process is a long operating service life to guarantee a continuous 24/7 pumping process.

PUMPING SUSPENSIONS IN
SALT RECYCLING PROCESS
THE CHALLENGE
THE STÜBBE SOLUTION
APPLICATION-SPECIFIC CONFIGURATION WITH INTELLIGENT MODULAR SYSTEM
Two pumps from an external manufacturer were replaced by STÜBBE X‑CLASS heavy‑duty pumps. At the most critical point in the production process, the pump delivers a suspension of up to 400 g/l solid level with a density >1.5 kg/dm3. The single-acting STÜBBE mechanical seal with continuous flushing, which was developed in-house, is used due to the high solids content.
Previously, heavily contaminated flushing water led to lime deposits, which restricted the axial movement of the mechanical seal. STÜBBE responded to the challenge and subsequently supplied a newly designed mechanical seal.
THE RESULT
INCREASED OPERATING LIFE AND REDUCED LIFE CYCLE COSTS
Even after more than 24 months, the pump casing and impeller showed exceedingly low wear for these extreme conditions.
